This display case chronologically presents Starplate Fastbacks. Also included is the World Games Fastback made by Wham-O.

Starplate

l Notes: Starplate is a fastback-style frisbee made in Finland. In Finland at the end of the 1970s, Frisbee was still unknown. For many Finns, the first Frisbee was a Starplate, a Wham-O Fastback made in Farusa, or a Junior Frisbee made in Farusa.

The Starplate was designed by Kari Nyrhinen from Mäntsälä. Nyrhinen founded a plastic factory in Mäntsälä at the end of the 1960s. The most famous products of Nyrhinen Ky are probably the plastic cars that are coveted by collectors. The name was changed to Ju-Ju Toys Oy in 1974. Ju-Ju Toys focused on the manufacture of plastic children's toys.

Special Notes: A commission proposal that Kari Nyrhinen received at the Nürnberg  Toy
Fair led to the development of a Fastback-style Frisbee mold. According to
Nyrhinen's recollection, the mold was completed in 1979, and production of
the Starplate began shortly thereafter. 
The mold was designed with a replaceable centerpiece—the first version Featured ten stars and a flat center. Starplate's product number was 27125, and it was marketed in Finland under the name "Heittolevy". The product number for this Frisbee is 27125. The Starplate frisbee has been made in at least yellow, red, blue and pink. The plastic is hard.

 On the bottom of the Starplate you can find the text made in Finland and the truck logo, which can be found on Nyrhinen Ky and Ju-Ju Toys products. Starplate have also been found with the base marking 27126. Nyrhinen said that it only takes about 40 seconds to produce one Starplate on an injection molding machine. In the best year, over 100,000 Starplates were produced per year!

Special Notes: In the second batch, the replaceable center was flat and over 9 cm in diameter. It was possible to apply foil printing to the flat center. Airam Electric Oy Ab is a Finnish family business, known especially for its lighting products and and the classic red thermos bottle, which has been manufactured since 1934.

Special Notes: Ju-Ju Toys markets promotional products for companies. The product number of this Starplate model is 27126. The plastic is hard. Lois Jeans, founded in 1962 in the heart of the Spanish fashion industry. Lois jeans were seen on the dance floors of the 70s and 80s and worn by icons such as Björn Borg, Abba and Rod Stewart, symbolizing a bold and sophisticated style.

Special Notes: The soft plastic has been foil printed. Fiat manufactured the Regata car model between 1983 and 1990. It is assumed that the Starplate was manufactured during the first years of production of the Regata, i.e. between 1984 and 1985.

Special Notes: Ju-Ju Toys Oy changed to Hot-Toys Oy in 1992. In the late 1980s, foil printing was replaced with stickers. Coca-Cola's advertising slogan in 1993 was Always Coca-Cola.

Frisbee

Special Notes: Tactic Games Oy was founded in Pori in 1967. Its operations focus on the production of Tactic entertainment games. 

The Frisbee, which is subcontracted to Tactic, has a flat front center and a Tactic logo, made in Finland, and a CE marking on the bottom. In EU countries, the CE marking was introduced in 1990, and in Finland, the CE marking became mandatory for toys at the beginning of 1994. The frisbee has a round TACTIC Frisbee sticker. The sticker contained an EEA-13 barcode.

Special Notes: Jussi Wallenius from Tactic estimates that the TACTIC Frisbee was on sale from 1995 to 1999, but it was probably on sale for a shorter period. Tactic had problems with using the Frisbee® name. The plastic is very soft and pleasant to the touch.

Special Notes: Problems with the use of the Frisbee® name led to a change in the product name. The new name was SunFun FRIZBEE. The product was only sold for a few years. The stickers and back packaging material were made by Tactic and the Frizbee was manufactured by Hot-Toys. There were a total of 24 different stickers and the Frizbee had metal flake/glitter particles in it.

Special Notes: Safety regulations for toy manufacturing have become stricter. The CE marking (French: Conformité Européenne) on a product indicates that the manufacturer declares that the product meets the requirements of the relevant EU directives and that the product has undergone any required checks.The CE marking is intended to facilitate the free movement of goods within the European internal market. The CE marking was introduced in EU countries in 1990. In Finland, the CE marking became mandatory for toys at the beginning of 1994. Hot Toys changed the center of the bottom no later than 1994. The bottom has the text "Made in Finland and CE" in a smaller font than before. When examining the back of the Starplate with the lights on, the TacTic logo is still visible.

 The plastic quality became partially transparent and the Starplate received a Hot-Toys sales label. The label shows the manufacturing date. Hot-Toys continued manufacturing the Starplate until Oy Plastex Ab purchased the manufacturing of Hot-Toys Oy's winter and summer products on 2 October 2015.

Special Notes:
 Frisbee was a demonstration sport at the games. Disc golf and ultimate were played at the games, and freestyle demonstrations were also organized. The disc golf competitions were held in Mukkula. There was no disc golf course in Mukkula at that time.  The competition was won by Antti Luuri and Harvey Brand. The frisbee demonstrations included players from the individual World Championships that had just been held in Finland.
