This showcase presents rare frisbees made in Finland and frisbees made abroad that were sold in Finland. Ufo, Ufo III, Esso's Pelikassi Frisbee, Ultimate European Championships-80 disc , Carrols disc and Yo-Bee.

Ufo
Maker: Miehikkälän Muovi, Miehikkälä

Date Introduced: Late 1970s
Special Notes: The Ufo was designed by the late Erkki Korhonen, who also founded a plastics factory in Miehikkälä on November 11, 1977. The factory was named Miehikkälän Muovi Oy, and it manufactured rubber and plastic products. Miehikkälä is located only 15 kilometers from the Russian border.
It would be interesting to know whether the Wham-O Pro model or the old Russian Frisbee models were used as a basis for designing the Ufo.

Special Notes: UFOs have been produced in at least brown, light reddish brown and black. The text on the back of the UFO is: UFO, Miehikkälän Muovi.

Ufo

Special Notes: Miehikkälä UFO with a rare Imatra Road Racing sticker. Imatranajo is a motorcycle racing competition held on a street track in Imatra. Imatranajo was the Finnish Grand Prix of the World Championship series for track motorcycles from 1964 to 1982. The stars of the races were the Italian Giacomo Agostini and Jarno Saarinen.

Special Notes: Lehtiniemi Ufos have been found in yellow, red and blue. On the bottom of the Ufo is the text: UFO, Manufacturer: Muovitiimi Lehtiniemi OY Pornainen.

Date Introduced: 1995
Special Notes: The 3rd style of Ufos (Lehtiniemi) was produced for the Helsinki C1 Thunder event held in Sörnäinen, Helsinki, from June 2nd to 4th, 1995.
The printing "C1 THUNDER Helsinki Speedweek" was added to these Ufos. Ufos with the C1 Thunder printing have been made in at least red and yellow. The Ufo mold is still owned by Lehtiniemi.

Ufo-III

Special Notes: The history of the UFO-III frisbee is quite unique. Hallberg Plastics Manufacturing Company made a customer mold, but the mold was the wrong size for their injection molding machines. So the UFO-III was subcontracted to Oy Hokkiplast Ab's machines in Porvoo. There are two different versions of the UFO III, which can be distinguished by the bottom. The first version has the text on the bottom: Muovipuristamo Hallberg and Tel. 918/601600, and there are also 4 "nail holes" in the center. The second version has no text or "nail holes" on the bottom. The UFO-III is also a replica of Wham-O's Regular frisbee.

Special Notes: This is a replica of the Wham-O Square top fastback. Wavin Hardenberg was one of the Wham-O licensees in Europe.

Ultmate EC-1980 tournament disc, Fastback UK-1

Special Notes: The 1980 Ultimate European Championship tournament disc was given to all players in the tournament
package. This European Championship gold medal in Ultimate was the first time that
Finns had won a European Championship in any team sport in the men's division. The players signed their discs. The team consisted of 14 players, which means that there are an equal number of autographed discs. Such a disc should also adorn the walls of the Finnish Sports Museum Tahto.

Carrols Frisbee

Special Notes: Carrols was Finland's first international fast food chain. Carrols entered Finland in 1975. Carrols advertised Frisbee Meal quite prominently in 1992.

Yo Bee

Date Introduced: 1993
Special Notes: Yo Bee is a combination of a flying disc and a yo-yo, and the string is attached to the flying disc like a yo-yo. After the throw, the Yo Bee returns and the string is rewound back into the notch in the flying disc.
The manufacturer of the product, Elektro-Racing Oy, was founded in Helsinki in 1989. The product has Finnish patent application No. 930676. (16.2.1993).
